Plain English. No legalese traps. These terms protect both you and us.
Important: ComplianceIQ is a guidance tool, not a law firm
ComplianceIQ helps you understand which AI regulations may apply to your business and guides you through creating compliance documentation. We are not lawyers and do not provide legal advice. Our information is researched but may not be current or complete for your specific situation. For high-stakes compliance decisions, consult qualified legal counsel in your jurisdiction.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using ComplianceIQ (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these terms.
2. What ComplianceIQ Does
ComplianceIQ is a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform that:
- Maintains a database of AI-related laws and regulations across 155+ jurisdictions
- Helps you identify which laws may apply to your business based on your inputs
- Generates compliance documentation templates (risk assessments, policies, disclosures)
- Tracks regulatory deadlines and sends email alerts
- Provides an audit trail of your compliance activities
What we are NOT: ComplianceIQ is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and does not guarantee that following our guidance will make you legally compliant. Laws change and vary by jurisdiction. Our database is updated regularly but may not reflect the most recent legal developments.
3. Accounts and Security
Account creation: You must provide accurate information when creating your account. One account per organization unless you have written permission from us for multi-seat access.
Account security: You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Notify us immediately via in-app feedback if you suspect unauthorized access.
Account termination: We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or abuse the Service. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page.
4. Subscription Plans and Payment
Free Plan
The Free plan is available without payment. It includes access to the jurisdiction database, risk report tool, and limited document generation. Free plans are subject to usage limits as described on our pricing page.
Paid Plans (Starter and Pro)
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. Prices are as displayed on our pricing page at the time of subscription.
Refund Policy
We offer a 7-day refund for first-time paid subscriptions where no documents have been generated and no exports downloaded. After 7 days or after any document generation, payments are non-refundable. See our Refund Policy for full details and how to request via in-app feedback.
Payment Processing
Payments are processed by LemonSqueezy, our Merchant of Record. LemonSqueezy handles all payment processing, tax collection, and VAT globally. We do not store your credit card information. By subscribing, you agree to LemonSqueezy's terms of service in addition to these terms.
Price Changes
We will provide 30 days notice before changing subscription prices for existing customers. Price changes take effect at your next billing cycle.
5. Your Data
You own your data: Information you enter into ComplianceIQ (organization details, AI tool lists, assessment answers, documents) belongs to you. We do not claim ownership of your content.
Data export: You can export all your data at any time from the Settings page. We will provide your data in machine-readable JSON format within seconds of your request.
Data deletion: You can permanently delete all your data from the Settings page. Deletion is immediate and irreversible. We retain only what is legally required (e.g., billing records for 7 years per tax law).
How we use your data: We use your data to provide the Service. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Share your account credentials with others (except authorized account members)
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the compliance database
- Use the Service to provide compliance consulting services to others without disclosure that you are using our platform
- Submit false, misleading, or malicious content
- Use the Service in a way that could harm the Service or other users
- Circumvent any usage limits or access controls
7. Intellectual Property
Our content: The ComplianceIQ platform, jurisdiction database, document templates, and all associated content are our intellectual property. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.
Your documents: Documents you generate using our templates are yours. You may use them for your own compliance purposes without restriction.
Feedback: If you provide feedback or suggestions, we may use them to improve the Service without obligation to you.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that: (a) the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free; (b) the jurisdiction database is complete, accurate, or current; (c) following our guidance will result in legal compliance; (d) the Service will meet your specific requirements.
AI regulations change frequently. Our database is updated regularly but there may be a delay between a new law being passed and its appearance in our system. Always verify critical compliance requirements with qualified legal counsel.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR: INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUE; REGULATORY FINES OR PENALTIES YOU INCUR; LOSS OF DATA; OR ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON THE SERVICE FOR ACTUAL LEGAL COMPLIANCE.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
11. Changes to Service and Terms
Service changes: We may modify or discontinue features of the Service with reasonable notice. We will not eliminate features you are actively using without at least 30 days notice.
Terms changes: We may update these Terms. We will notify active subscribers by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
12. Termination
By you: You may cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Cancellation stops future charges but does not entitle you to a refund of the current period (see our Refund Policy for eligibility).
By us: We may terminate your account for violation of these terms. We will provide notice where possible and refund any prepaid unused subscription fees if we terminate without cause.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be settled by binding arbitration. Before commencing arbitration, you must contact us via in-app feedback and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days.
